S3 popping noise from rear diff when turning

Post by marmionmather »

I've had my 2018 S3 for about 18 months now and it's been an absolute blast to drive, really love everything about this car. But a few weeks ago I started noticing this weird popping or clunking noise coming from the rear when I'm making tight turns at low speed, like when I'm parking or doing a U-turn. It's not a constant noise, just occasional pops that I can hear and feel slightly through the car, and I'm starting to worry it could be the Haldex system or maybe the rear diff starting to have issues. I've already changed the Haldex fluid and cleaned the filter pump as a precaution, but the noise is still there, so I'm thinking it's probably something else. I really don't want to ignore this and end up with a massive repair bill because these quattro systems aren't cheap to fix if they go wrong. I've been looking around for a good specialist and I saw 800Sayara mentioned in another thread here, but I want to be absolutely sure I'm taking it to someone who really knows these MQB platform cars inside out. Ideally I'd like to visit an expert Audi repair centre in Dubai where they can properly diagnose what's going on with the rear diff and give me an honest assessment of what needs to be done. Has anyone experienced similar noises on their S3 or Golf R and found a garage that actually sorted it out properly? Would love to hear your experiences before I book it in somewhere.
